Barberyn Reef, the first Ayurvedic healing resort in Sri Lanka, is set on a long stretch of peaceful, unspoilt beach near the coastal town of Beruwala, 58km south of Colombo.The beach is protected by a large reef, which provides a natural tidal lagoon for swimming. Accommodation ranges from detached beach–front bungalows set just a few feet from the Ocean, to modern rooms in two main buildings set in the lush resort gardens. Barberyn Beach, which opened in February 2003, is set on the southern tip of Sri Lanka near the coastal town of Weliama, 140km south of Colombo. Set on a high knoll overlooking acres of coconut groves which gently slope down to two beautiful beaches, the 15 acre resort is carefully landscaped to preserve the natural environment.

The rooms are built in clusters on stilts at the top of the resort, all are furnished to a high level of comfort using natural materials, and have views across the gardens to the Indian Ocean. Both resorts are designed to improve the guest’s well being though careful Ayurvedic diagnosis and healing treatments, diet, yoga and meditation. Guest are offered a friendly and supportive environment in which to relax and unwind and enjoy a restful, rejuvenating holiday. The restaurants offer a wide selection of delicious and healthy Sri Lankan cuisine. Every meal provides various examples of all the Ayurvedic food taste categories that influence the body energies (sweet, salty, spicy, hot, cold and bitter), a trained Ayrvedic dietician is on hand to advise guests which foods to take and to avoid according to the individual.Yoga, meditation and short excursions are also included as part of the programme.
